All Bairns Connecting
What’s the 1 2 3 on 'ABC’?
As you may know, VIP Childcare is a Social Enterprise which means that the organisation is run as a business with a Board of volunteer Directors and the income generated goes directly into developing the service. Therefore we can develop a high quality sustainable childcare service. It also means that we are very focused on our social responsibility and as such are keen to become involved in promoting understanding about the importance of the Early Years. VIP Childcare founded a focus group names ‘All Bairns Connecting’, otherwise known as ‘ABC’. The ‘ABC’ group was developed to explore how important supporting the Early Years in childhood is for Moray’s children, for Moray’s parents, for Moray’s economy and for Moray’s community.
VIP Childcare was responsible for hosting the ‘All Bairns Connecting’ event that was held at the Mansefield Hotel, Elgin on 28th September, 2012. This event focused on the importance of Early Years for Moray’s Children. The event featured presentations from Scottish Minister for Children Aileen Campbell, Psychologist Suzanne Zeedyk, Detective John Carnochan and Economist John Sinclair. Attendees of the event included parents, grandparents, family, childcare practitioners, other child-related professionals, voluntary and community groups and local businesses.
The ‘ABC’ focus group is hoping to build on the momentum of the ‘All Bairns Connecting’ event and continue to promote the importance of Early Years. The group recently met on 25th March and discussed ideas of how to move forward the agenda. One main goal of the group is to encourage involvement from members of the community.
