Inward Facing Buggies
At VIP Childcare we appreciate the benefits of outdoor play and exploration for our children and in our baby unit. We believe the experience of outdoor play is just as important as the quality interaction opportunity that arises through the transportation of our children to an outdoor area.
We strive to maximize our time with the children and feel that if we can connect more with our youngest children even whilst ‘transporting’ them to an outdoor location or during a unstructured walk it would be added value to the child’s attachment with key worker. In connection with the work of Dr Suzanne Zeedyk (former Psychology lecturer at Dundee University) we have identified the need to update the way in which we transport our youngest children in the outdoor environment – from outward facing buggies to inward. Currently, research on baby brain development and neuroscience is indicating the major benefits in children’s developmental areas such as language, communication, and emotional security simply by the way we transport our children. For more information on how our practitioners carried out this innovative practice using video reflection, our baby team are enthusiastic to share their findings ! |
